Restoration of Endangered Kemps Ridley Sea Turtle

US/Mexican Bi-national Restoration Project Gulf of Mexico

Each year, federal funding for the project is cut threatening to end the restoration effort before the Kemp’s ridley species is downlisted from its endangered status. Based on best estimates, the species could be downlisted within five years, but only if the restoration program continues and data are collected to verify the population recovery.
